What a beautiful website! I came across it by a chance when a friend here in
the States (am in St. Louis, Missouri) became interested in the life of St.
Cuthbert and asked me to peruse the web. My family emigrated from the British
Isles in the 1600's, but I and my two daughters, Ariella and Marisa , still
feel the bonds of kinship with the land that fortunately is not so far away
today. I hope to visit your church the next time I am in Scotland. When that
will be, I don't know, but I pray it will not be too far in the future. Your

I am a niece of my deceased aunt Elizabeth Tate Munro, who I believe was a
member of your church. I do have my mother's birth and baptism certificate. She
was Elizabeth's sister, Jemima Nairn Munro of 52 Dalry Road, Edinburgh, and
came to New Zealand in 1920 after retiring from Queen Mary's Army Auxiliary
Corps in 1920.

Edinburgh is a special place for me, very happy memories of working there from
time to time. A great joy therefore to discover recently that my Great great
grandparents Archibald Lobban and Eliza Morrison were residents at Fountains
Bridge and married at St. Cuthberts in April 1846. I must return to visit this
place of pilgrimage and belonging. I discovered the blessings of The Celtic Way
on Iona in 1996...maybe the seeds were sown by my ancestors... Thank you for a

Hi,I belong to a tiny St.Cuthbert's Episcopal Church located on Long
Island,N.Y.We have been trying to replace our statue of St. Cuthbert that was
stolen.My search has led me to want to find out about our saint and while doing
so,I also found out about your original St.Cuthbert's.A kind lady has offered
to make us one if we have a picture of the statue.I found a watercolor(small!)
picture of him on ebay and bought it for us so we could at least have that.Your
church is very beautiful and I enjoyed reading about your history that is
linked to ours here in the U.S.A. in our small little church.If you could help
us in our search to find a replacement or just a picture you might
have,thanks!Thanks for listening,maybe someday we could visit but for now I

A dear friend of mine lost her 102 year-old aunt recently and I was asked to
sing at the small service held in the chapel of St Cuthbert’s in her
memory prior to her being laid to rest in Peebles. We received such a friendly
welcome from Mr Robertson who, although not knowing the lady, conducted the
most appropriate service combining warmth, solemnity, gentle humour, and
uplifting liturgy. I should like to record personal thanks to Mr Robertson for
conducting such a fine service and making the small party that attended feel so
welcome. Sincere thanks.

Thankyou for abeautiful website. My second Gt. Grandfather Thomas Pearson was
baptised there on the 13 mar 1803. His parents were John Pearson and Margaret
Laing, also from the parish, although I cannot find a marriage. I feel as

I just wanted to say thank you once again. In 2000 my mom and I stumbled across
the church. The ladies invited us in and told us about the church history as we
ate shortbread and drank cocoa. As you can tell seven years later this is still

the Tolbooth church in Edinburgh? I am desperately seeking information on a
David Young 20/08/1785 i have at last found his parents( i hope) elopith Baxter

I enjoyed the site very much and learned a lot about the church where my family
are buried. My Paterson's are all buried with gravestones still standing in the

i was trying to get a feeling of where my ancestors are from .my great great
grandmother violet riggs was baptised there in 1834 ,her parents george riggs
and jean beggrie were married there in 1832 i hope to visit soon .i love the

This website is fantastic, it has everything you really need to know about St
cuthberts. I've been there before quite a few times. The glass stained windown
are beautiful and I think the mosaic picture of the last supper is fantastic.
It must have taken quite a long time to make. I went there for a school trip
not so long ago and I found it very interesting and factual.

I've enjoyed browsing your website very much. My great-great-grandparents, John
Ramsay Graham and Ann Buncle Graham, were christened and married in St.
Cuthbert's parish. They emigrated to the US around 1839. Ann's parents are
buried in the kirkyard. I would love to visit Edinburgh some day.

It is very exciting to see the church where I believe my great great grand
parents where married on the 27-Jun- 1851, who were Peter Fulton of Glasgow and
Many Ann Miller of Edinburgh. They went to London where Peter worked as a
Printer. they had 6 children together.

I was led to Joyce Rupp's Lenten Reflection (Celtic Way) and one of the Lenten
exercises was to pick a saint and focus on his/her message. I chose St Cuthbert
