I have enjoyed reading your web site. Six of my great-great grandfather's
(Thomas Caverhill) children were baptised at your church between 1820 and 1828
and it is where re-married after the death of his first wife. I am currently
preparing a family history which is what brought your site to my attention.
Many thanks for having such a helpful and interesting site. James Lawrence

I wish to establish the name of Catharine McDonald"s mother, it does not
seem to appear on LDS entry for her marriage to Henry GASQUOINE on 5/12/1833 at
St. Cuthberts, Midlothian, Edinburgth, Scotland. Her father is stated as James
McDonald, BUT nothing for her mother. Also there doesn't seem to be anything
regarding her baptism. Hope you can help. Regards Joan JONES.

doing family history work has led me to this site. I believe my family roots
are tied to this parish and the Peacock family. I am trying to verify
information about Thomas Peacock born 1835 +/- in Midlothian, and he came to
America, state of Illinois. That is where I am from. Wondering if there are any
Peacock family ties anywhere in Scotland??

I enjoyed your talking about your church. It is wonderful how Faith can be
shared online. My website called a Church Book is a place I have fun at during
these cold winters. Have a great day Steve B.

My mother's family sometimes attended St. Cuthbert's Church, even though it was
not in their parish. Therefore, I enjoyed looking at the church's history on
your web site. It is also very informative for genealogists who are searching
ancestral information sources. Keep up the good work! Sheena Wadlinger Los

My family - Liddles, came from this part of Scotland. We seem to have a lot of
christian missionaries within the family, and the first ones to come out to
Australia and New Zealand ( where I live) came as missionaries. I am descendent
of William Liddle and recently put together a powerpoint presentation to show
my family where we came from, and where Liddles have ended up around the world
( USA, Canada, South Africa, Australia and NZ). We were all quite amazed to see
the predominance of christian missions and wondered where it all began. So far
we seem to be following up on Cuthbert and his contemporaries who were
responsible for spreading the gospel through this area. Looking forward to
hearing from anyone who has a keen interest in the origins and christian impact
on the Liddle family. Thanks! Rosalie Liddle Crawford

Enjoyed looking over your website. I am from Melbourne, Australia, but was born
and bred in Scotland. I was a member of Kirk O' Shotts beore coming to
Australia and I have continued with Church membership here these last 53 years.
My mother was born in Edinburgh and spent her early years in The Deans and St.
Cuthbert's was a familiar name in our household in Lanarkshire. Mother must
have left there before she started primary school although she did go to a
private girls' school when she wouldbe around 4. There was a family of Forsyths
living at 29 West Port, St. Cuthbert's, during the 1881 census, who may be
relatives of mine. Does anyone know what happened to Jane? She could have
married a minister. The next time I am in Edinburgh, which I hope will be this
year sometime, I hope to visit your church. Best wishes from Melbourne. Jessie

Love and greetings to everyone at St. Cuthberts. My first visit to St C's was
quite an adventure. I had an interview with Tom. I couldn't find the gate so I
climbed over the fence from Princes Street! Tom allowed me to become
probationer (as long as I promised to use the gate in future!). After my
ordination in 1990 I served for a further year at St. C's as assistant
minister. Thereafter, I moved to Leith to St. Thomas'-Junction Road Church. In
2002 I married a Swedish psychologist, Lars-Erik Warg and moved here to Sweden
along with my wee doggie Spooky. Loving it here. On June 2nd 2003 I gave birth
to a beautiful baby daughter, Lovisa. She's turning into a wee rascal (like her
Mum). I am working part time in Vasakyrkan in Örebro just now. Although I
have preached a few times in Swedish, I am responsible for organising Church
Services in English and for designing our church website (in English and
Swedish). You can find the website at www.vasakyrkan.se. I have just been
looking at the messages in the guest book and I notice that there is a message
from Karin Ranieli. What a small world! Karin is lovely and a dear friend here.
She comes to our services in English at Vasakyrkan. Lots of love to Tom and co.

Beautiful Church! I love the history! I was drawn to this site because I'm into
geneology, and some of my ancestors (the Jeffrey's in particular) went there in
the 1700s. But many more could have too. Very interesting.
