Hello St Cuthbert's. My name is John Hunt and I live in Westport New Zealand.
In recent research I have found past relatives who lived and were married in St
Cuthbert's. Of course I would love to find that some descendants of these
people still live in the area but don't expect to be so lucky. Here are the
people: Alexander Dickson m. Elizabeth Robertson (St Cuthbert's) 20 Feb 1790.
Their chn were Ann Dickson baptised 3 Nov 1790 m. John McKenzie; Jean Dickson
b. 21 Oct 1796 m. Andrew Grandison (my ancestors); Alexander Dickson b. 6 Nov
1799 m. Margaret Wetherburn; Elizabeth Dickson b. 3 Sep 1801 m Alexander
Wilson; Robert Dickson b. 3 Aug 1808 m. Helen Wilson. I have a number of others
too and might name them later if I receive some positive response. Kindest
regards, John Hunt

Last week we visited your church. We've seen a lot of churches during our stay
in Scotland, but yours was definitely the nicest. Not only the building itself,
also the people we met. Especially the elder who showed is around. On our next
visit we are planning to visit the church on a Sunday!!! God bless you.

I'm interested in your church because my great great grandparents were married
there as were my great grandparents and all the children were baptised there. I
haven't found out about burials as yet. I found the site interesting. Lorraine.

I enjoyed your web-site. I am the Vicar of St. Cuthbert's Church, Sheffield. We
share a very similar web address, ours is www.stcuthberts.net though yours is a
much better developed and much more informative site. Thank you for the
inspiration.

1. Can you please tell me is there any massage about Muhammad(s), in the holy
Bible. 2. Please also tell me one reason why Christianity does not recognise
ISLAM? where Islam tells about Jesus and Moses and all the messengers of god.

Although my European vacation did not permit a visit to Scotland, I was able to
find a St. Cuthbert's cross for my ordination into the United Church of Christ
on 1 July 2001. To find your site has extended my vacation, for which I thank
you very much. Your site is highly informative, and the articles on Cuthbert
and the Celtic Way are excellent homiletic fodder. I shall continue to visit
your site and, more importantly, keep your ministries for God's people in my
prayers. Shalom, Pastor Barb

My church, Bay Road Presbyterian in Lake George N.Y. (USA) has just
rediscovered our Scottish heritage Thanks to many long hours put in by one of
our members we have just had a book published about it. Now at the end of June
we will be having a Kirkin Celebration and we are looking for hymns that the
founders of our church might have sung. They came from the borderlands between
1830-1855 and were part of an extremely strict sect of the faith, the name of
which I am currently at a loss for. Any help given would be appreciated, Thank
You and God Bless

We plan on visiting next year (2002). I just discovered that my relatives were
married in your church in 1830. I am wondering if any part of the church from
1830 is remaining, or do you have any drawings of the church that existed at
that time?

Our home is on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, USA. Our church, The First
Presbyterian Church was fortunate to have your pastor Tom Cuthell as our
ecumenical pastor for a month last year at this time. I was especially
fortunate to have Tom lead our Men's Wednesday morning bible study during his
stay. My son David moved to Scotland this past January where he is an executive
with Kymata Corp in Livingston. My wife, Lois and I will be visiting our son
from May 12th to June 1st and we plan to visit St. Cuthbert's on Sunday May
20th. It turns out that another member of our church, Bruce and Helen Fairchild
will also be in Scotland and will be with us on the 20th at church as well. Roy

Greetings from County Antrim and from those in REFORMATION IRELAND ! Visited
your church around twenty five years ago upon the occasion of The World
Congress of Fundamentalists in the Usher Hall. Certainly very ornate for a
Presbyterian Church ! Our emphasis today in RI is on the preaching of the Word
therefore the pulpit should be central in any meeting house ! Edinburgh speaks
volumes for our historic Evangelical and Reformed faith with the sufferings of
the Covenanters clearly marked in Greyfriars churchyard. These saints of God
suffered and died for our freedom to worship unhindered even today. Let us not
forget that the beliefs of the Roman harlot system have not changed - one only
needs to read the recent Vatican document DOMINUS IESUS to prove that all the
ecumenical 'tomfoolery' is seriously misplaced. Let us STAND FAST for the
Glorious Gospel (Galatians 5 v1). It was John Knox himself who declared 'For
the Lord Himself shall come in our defence with His mighty power; he shall give
us victory where the battle is most strong, and he shall turn our tears into
everlasting joy'

Very interesting and informative site. I have visited the Church and Churchyard
several times, travelling from St. Thomas, Ont. Canada, lastly in 1996, during
my researches into Family History. My great-great grandfather George Maule,
died 1859, is buried in the family plot (#149)in the north ground, along with
many other members of the family. Plan on taking a couple of my grandchildren
there this summer. I'm sure I will visit this website often.

Found your site interesting. Main purpose of my visit was to view the church
where my great, great grandparents were married Robert Paris and Janet Anderson
in 1833. I was a bit disappointed to read the present church was built in the
1890's. I understand the name Paris in peculiar to the Mid Lothian area. I have
come across the name a lot. Makes research interesting.
